The Clann are a four piece Irish Music Band with a wealth of experience and are multitalented live or in the studio and they have worked with the best in the business.

Individually they play a variety of instruments and in their own right are superb vocalists.
The Live show is not to be missed as there interaction with a live audience is unique.

The Clann  is derived from the native Irish meaning “Family” which entices a clear cut deep rooted meaning that is symbolic in the cultural diversity of their performance.

Shay  Kavanagh

new bio1 BiographyShay brings a wealth of experience to the Clann in touring and recording. A former member of The Dublin City Ramblers 1992 to 2003. He actually started his music career as a drummer. He is a accomplished acoustic guitarist and vocalist having worked with Mary Black, Frances Black, The Buskers, Raglan Road, Wolfe Tones, The Furey’s, Jolly Beggar men & The Sons of Erin. Shay played with a house band in Jonny foxes, in there  famous Hooley nights while he was in college to learn the other side of the business like Music technology, sound engineering and music production. He graduated with a distinction. He also likes swimming, cooking and listing to his vast music collection.


Gerry Caffrey

new bio2 BiographyGerry started playing music when was very young and is self taught learning all styles of music by ear. He joined his first Irish band The Brimmer as a Banjo player and as their reputation grew the band got bigger and Jerry took up the Mandolin. Gerry’s career then took him to the USA where he toured and formed several groups like Fiddlers’ Green, Gale Force and Banshee to take the west coast by storm & bringing Irish music to new heights. Gerry also worked with the best in the business throughout his recording career. With a wide vocal range, he is always in demand and was a music advisor for Irish Ferries for nine years. He also is a collector and restorer of vintage cars.


Kevin O Hare

new bio3 BiographyKevin plays guitar, bones, Low whistle and Bodhrán and is a vocalist as well. He has played the Irish music circuit up and down the length of Ireland and Europe and the USA. Kevin also played with the best in the business when he had a chance to play with the great Van Morison in a session. Kevin is also a teacher in Ireland’s most famous school of music Walton’s where he teaches Bodhr��n from beginners to world champions. He is never far from the studio when he is doing session work and he is involved in a lot of music shows. When he’s not working he is keen angler.


Paul Watchhorn

new bio4 BiographyPaul is rated amongst one of the best 5 string Banjo players in Ireland and as such has played all over the world. He is also an accomplished Guitar player and vocalist. Music runs in Pauls’ family, his brother Patsy was the main singer with The Dublin City Ramblers for 30 years and is now the main singer with The Dubliners.

Paul was one of the main singers with Derek Warfield of The Wolfetones and had been playing with him for nearly four years The Wolfetones Derek Warfield and The Sons of Erin Band. In that time they played all over the USA, England, Scotland, Spain, France, and Germany and toured extensively around Ireland. Out on their own now they still continue to tour Ireland and the USA.

When the question is asked as to whether there are any groups to continue on the ballad tradition in Ireland… you need look no further than Paul Watchorn and The Clann. Paul Watchorn has toured extensively all around the world and continues to do so with The Clann.
